About Oral and Dental Health

Tooth and gum disease are among the most significant health problems in our country and worldwide. Because they are not directly life-threatening, oral and dental health is often overlooked.

The mouth is the entrance to the digestive tract. Although often overlooked, adverse effects in the mouth can lead to poor dental health and negatively impact digestion.

In addition to their role in breaking down and grinding food, teeth have a significant impact on patients' lives, including speech and aesthetic appearance. Missing teeth make it difficult for people to produce certain sounds and create difficulties with chewing and biting.

During the developmental process, the first primary teeth appear around the age of six months. As children age, primary teeth begin to fall out and are replaced by permanent teeth. This process continues until age 12. Early loss of primary teeth negatively impacts jaw development, leading to speech disorders and aesthetic problems. Therefore, any treatment performed on permanent teeth can also be performed on primary teeth.

The two most significant health problems in oral and dental health  are tooth decay  and  gingivitis . Gum disease can sometimes lead to the decay of the jawbone, which houses the tooth socket. Poor dental health can also affect other organs in the body.

Teeth can become a constant source of infection, negatively impacting nearly every system. They can be a source of infections that can lead to significant health problems in structures like the heart, kidneys, and joints.

The absence of any structural or functional disorder in the mouth and teeth, and the ability of the mouth and teeth to perform their functions fully,  indicates the existence of " oral and dental health ".
